CUBAN AMBASSADOR TO GHANA ATTENDS TRIBUTE TO FORMER FIRST LADY OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA

Accra. 29 October. – The Cuban Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Julio E. Pujol Torres, participated in the tribute of honour held in memory of Her Excellency Mrs Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, the former First Lady of the Republic of Ghana and widow of the late President Jerry J. Rawlings. She was a great friend of Cuba and our Commander-in-Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz. A great advocate for women's empowerment, Her Excellency Mrs Rawlings maintained a close friendship with Vilma Espín Guillois, the eternal president of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) and a heroine of the Moncada uprising.

The Cuban Ambassador expressed his deepest condolences to the Rowling family, who were present at the ceremony, on behalf of the government and people of Cuba, and also signed the book of condolences opened for the occasion.
