May 19, 2022. – This morning, the Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Ibok-Ete Ibas, received the Ambassador of Cuba, Anette Chao García, on a courtesy call at the headquarters of its Chancellery in Accra.
The Cuban official updated her colleague on the reality of the island, emphasising the great support that Nigeria has maintained in the struggle against the blockade imposed by the US government on the Caribbean nation. She also informed him about biotechnological advances achieved by Cuba and the reality of the Summit of the Americas. Her counterpart thanked for the visit and recalled the many battles that Cuba and Africa have fought together. Ibas also expressed his gratitude for the many study opportunities that the island has given to the children of Nigeria.
The meeting was an appropriate moment to discuss possible means for future exchanges and ways of making the reality of the two countries known in Ghana.
During the slavery times many Nigerian slaves were brought to the island of Cuba, that is why the most widespread religion on the island is Yoruba.
