Cuban Ambassador to Ghana reiterates his commitment to strengthen bilateral relations

The Ambassador of Cuba to Ghana, Pedro Luis Despaigne González, was interviewed by the Ghanaian TV channel, Metro TV, in the person of the journalist Harriet Nartey, host of the thematic program Diplomatic Affairs.

In the course of his speech, the Ambassador stressed that next year diplomatic relations between Ghana and Cuba will reach the 60th anniversary, and reaffirmed that Ghana was the first State in sub-Saharan Africa that recognized the young triumphant Revolution.

The Cuban diplomat also pointed out the common elements that unite the peoples of both countries, as well as the history of bilateral cooperation in which the more than three thousand young Ghanaians trained in Cuban educational institutions play an essential role and the many Cuban doctors who have served in the ten regions of Ghana for more than 35 years..

The coincidence between Cuba and Ghana on important issues of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries, and the state of bilateral relations between the United States and Cuba were part of the television questionnaire. With regard to relations with the U.S. the negative role of the blockade for the socio-economic development of the largest of the Antilles was emphasized, ratifying the willingness of the Cuban people to continue waging their battle against an obsolete genocidal policy, repudiated in the General Assembly of the UN by all governments, with the exceptions of the United States and Israel.

The Cuban Ambassador ratified the solidarity of the Cuban people and government with the Palestinian cause and reiterated the right of the Cuban people over the territory illegally occupied by the Guantanamo Naval Base. He also confirmed his commitment to work to strengthen bilateral relations with Ghana.
