Accra, 15 February 2023 - The headquarters of the Organisation of African Trade Unions, OATUU, has once again opened its doors to the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Mrs. Anette Chao García. The Secretary General of the Organisation, Mr. Arezki Mezhoud, welcomed her along with other members of his leadership staff.
The Trade Union leader mentioned the excellent relations between the Organisation and the Republic of Cuba, paying special tribute to the Commander-in-Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz and to the Heroic Guerrilla Fighter Ernesto Che Guevara, who visited his city in Algeria when the Secretary General was just a child. He also recalled his visit to Cuba in 2023 where he met the Cuban President, H.E. Mr. Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, the Deputy Foreign Minister, H.E. Mrs. Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo and participated in the celebrations for May Day.
The Cuban official updated her interlocutor on the effects of the economic, commercial and financial blockade on the daily life of the Cuban people, and confirmed that her counterpart was deeply aware of the negative effects of the inclusion of the island on the alleged list of state sponsors of terrorism, issued by the US State Department.
The meeting was an opportunity to extend an invitation to participate in the May Day’s festivities organised in the Republic of Cuba, which brother Mezhoud gladly received.
