Rodney Bay, October 30, 2025 – Cuban Ambassador Yenielys Vilma Regueiferos Linares gave an interview to the national newspaper, Saint Lucia Times, about Cuba's victory in the vote on the Resolution against the blockade, approved the previous day at the United Nations General Assembly.
The Ambassador explained that the majority of the countries that make up the Assembly, 165 of the 193 member states, supported Cuba in this latest battle, which has been ongoing for 33 years. Despite the media campaign against Cuba, alleging false accusations such as the existence of mercenaries sent by the Cuban government to the war between Russia and Ukraine, Cuba received 85% of the votes in favor.
Regueiferos stated; Furthermore, the tightening of the blockade, the increase in sanctions, and the unjust inclusion of Cuba on the List of State Sponsors of Terrorism affect the island's banking transactions globally.
On the other hand, he thanked Saint Lucia for its historically favorable position in this forum and assured that bilateral cooperation will continue even in this adverse scenario.
