Cuban Ambassador highlights work of Cuba against Covid -19

Kuala Lumpur, June 1 - Invited by the University of the Philippines and solidarity organizations, the Cuban ambassador to the Philippines, Ibete Fernández Hernández, participated in the online forum entitled "Internationalism: Cuba's experience with covid 19 and solidarity in the face of aggression imperialist".

Cuba's strategy to confront COVID 19 and the collaboration provided by the island to various countries through the "Henry Reeve" brigades were the topics of the presentation, which featured numerous questions about Cuba's ability to fight the pandemic a despite being a blocked country.

The ambassador denounced the aggressiveness of the US government's policy towards Cuba under the Trump administration and how it has tightened the blockade instead of prioritizing the necessary solidarity in the midst of the pandemic. He also highlighted the altruistic work of Cuban doctors in various countries of the world and how collaboration has evolved along with the development of the Cuban health system, built since 1959 on the basis of what was expressed by the Commander-in-Chief in the plea “History will absolve me ”

Likewise, the diplomat took the opportunity to make known the MINREX statement issued today condemning terrorism and political manipulation, in the face of the complicit silence of the United States that protects terrorist actions.

The forum had the participation of 72 people and at the end they circulated an online petition to end the blockade.
