Cuban Ambassador Holds Meeting with Botswana Media

GABORONE: At a meeting held at the Cuban Embassy on 25 May 2026 attended by the Group of Media Friends of Cuba, among them journalists, the Cuban Ambassador to Botswana, Antonio Luis Pubillones Izaguirre, stated categorically that the Revolutionary Government and people of Cuba refuse to be bullied by the Government of the United States of America under its current President Donald Trump, or any president for that matter.

The ambassador’s statement comes in the wake of America’s latest use of fear and war mongering in a desperate attempt to cause global confusion to justify its age-old evil intent to wage war on Cuba.

In the latest act of unbriddled provocation against the Revolutionary state of Cuba, the United States Government, through its Department of Justice, on 20 May, 2026, accused army general and leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raul Castro Ruz, of a crime he never committed.

The American government’s provocation referenced the 1996 incident that led to Cuba downing two aircraft flying illegally over its airspace and operated by the Miami-based terrorist organisation calling itself Brothers to the Rescue.

The unprovoked indictment against the Cuban leader by America harbours a detail that many read past quickly, which is that, it is a despicable accusation fabricated to justify America’s evil intent against Cuba.

That America has always harboured ill-will against Cuba is known to all, even as it has in the past failed to break the revolutionary spirit of Cubans through its infamous economic and trade blockade.

The Cuban ambassador observed that it is little wonder then that America had found it necessary to go back 30 years in history to dig a matter so old and use it to justfy its nefarious intentions.

“Cuba is a sovereign independent state with its own laws that should be respected. We never interfere in the internal matters of other countries, much less dictate to them what they should do or not do,” the ambassador noted, adding, “we will not accept to be bullied….we will defend our territorial integrity with everything we have.”

“Cuba is not part of the United States and will never be,” stated the ambassador, calling America to back off.

“Cuba has never thrown a pebble to provoke America for any reason,” the ambassador said.
