Cuban Ambassador holds meeting with Executive Secretary of SACU.

The Executive Secretary of the Southern African Customs Union (SACU), H.E. Paulina Mbala Elago, received the Cuban ambassador Giraldo Mazola, at the headquarters of that sub regional organization.

SACU was founded in 1910 and includes Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho and the Kingdom of eSwatini, former Swaziland.

The nice meeting was favorable for both to exchange on the recently concluded election process in Cuba, the effects of the US blockade on the Cuban economy and the possibility of strengthening the links between the nations of their organization and Cuba. They also addressed the situation in the countries of the organization.

Another of the topics discussed was the next establishment of a free trade zone in Africa. Ms. Mbala explained the benefits that the establishment of the agreement will bring for the African continent and the dissimilar challenges that the region faces for its definitive implementation.

On the Cuban side also participated Aldo Luis Fuentes Acosta, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy.
