Cuban Ambassador Jamaica denounces policy of blockade vs Cuba

KINGSTON, JAMAICA, September 30, 2016.Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, Bernardo Guanche Hernandez, denounced the cruel policy of blockade the United States government has maintained during more than half a century, at a cocktail to commemorate the International Day of Peace and the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.

With the presence of officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, headed by Ambassador Joy Wheeler, Assistant Director for Bilateral Affairs; Dr. Jose Tomas Ares, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps; ambassadors and consuls of GRULAC, Guanche Hernandez explained that despite the process initiated in December, 2014, for the re-establishment of the bilateral relations between Cuba and the United States, the blockade still  remains and continues to affect the Cuban people.

“Barack Obama administration has introduced changes to this policy toward Cuba and has urged the Congress to lift the blockade. Changes to the regulations of the blockade introduced during 2015 and 2016 are positive but limited because they do not modify the fundamental aspects of this policy”, explained the Cuban Ambassador.

Likewise, the Cuban diplomat expressed his confidence that the international community will ratify once more time the support to Cuba against this criminal policy.
