Kingston, Jamaica, 20 September 2019. The Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, H.E Mrs. Inés Fors Fernández, gave a press conference on the occasion of the presentation of the draft Resolution "Need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America on Cuba" before the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
In her presentation, the Cuban diplomat described the blockade as the most unfair, severe and long-standing system of unilateral sanctions ever imposed on any country, while she demanded that the US government put an end to it unconditionally. She thanked Jamaica for contributing to denounce this illegal policy at the United Nations, the Caribbean Community and other international fora, and requested it to maintain this support until the total lifting of the blockade.
