Nairobi, February 16. Professor Paul Tiyambe Zeleza, the highest authority of the United States International University in Africa (USIU-Africa), visited the Embassy of Cuba in Nairobi today, where he was received by Ambassador Ernesto Gómez Díaz.
Professor Zeleza recalled his experiences as a researcher in Cuba and offered an update on the present and future of this important university. For his part, the Cuban Ambassador reiterated his country's willingness to expand cooperation with Kenya, despite strengthen of the blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for more than 50 years.
The visit gives continuity to the contacts established last year between the diplomatic mission and that high house of studies. Both sides discussed the existing potential to develop bilateral cooperation, especially in the academic and scientific research fields.
The USIU-Africa is located in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya and has a current enrollment of more than 6,500 students from around 70 countries around the world. The Director of the University Advancement, Professor James Ogolla, also participated in the lively meeting.
