Cuban Ambassador lectures Bahamian students about Cuba

THE BAHAMAS, 22 March, 2017.- The Cuban Ambassador in The Bahamas, Ismara Vargas Walter, gave a lecture about Cuba at the Cuban diplomatic headquarters to Bahamian students from the New Providence Classical School.

The meeting was attended by students between the ages of 15 and 17, along with their Spanish teacher, Yamilka Megret González, who is also a Cuban resident in the country.

During the exchange, the Cuban diplomat spoke about Cuba, its culture and identity. At the same time, she spoke about the bilateral relations between the two countries. Likewise, the Ambassador referred to the blockade imposed by the US against Cuba, and how despite that, the Cuban government has maintained its social achievements and has provided free education for all the Cubans. She also highlighted the outcomes of the regional meetings held in Havana this month this the participation of members of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

As part of the student exchange between Cuba and The Bahamas, the Cuban Embassy has also developed a program of talks and lectures to different schools in the country, aimed at motivating the students to learn the Spanish language and the features of other Caribbean countries and their cultures, emphasizing on Cuba.
