Cuban Ambassador Luis Ernesto Morejón Rodríguez Presents Credentials in the Cook Islands

Rarotonga, November 6, 2024 – This morning, Cuban Ambassador Luis Ernesto Morejón Rodríguez officially presented his credentials to the government of the Cook Islands, formalizing his designation as Cuba's diplomatic representative in the country.
As part of his official agenda, Ambassador Morejón Rodríguez held a series of meetings with key government officials in the Cook Islands, beginning with Acting-Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Immigration and Director of the Pacific and Regional Affairs Division, Ms. Teuru Passfield. This meeting fostered the start of a constructive dialogue and exchange on topics of mutual interest in both bilateral and multilateral arenas.
The ambassador later met with the Honorable Mr. Tingika Elikana, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, where they discussed various opportunities for collaboration and reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to strengthening cooperative ties.
Ambassador Morejón Rodríguez also held a productive meeting with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Mr. Bob Williams, who was joined by the director of Rarotonga Hospital and a graduate of the Latin American School of Medicine in Havana. During this meeting, they identified interests and areas to further develop cooperation in the health sector.
Throughout these exchanges, both parties expressed a shared interest in expanding and diversifying cooperative relations between Cuba and the Cook Islands.
Specific areas of collaboration were identified for the development of new joint projects, and representatives from both countries voiced their willingness and commitment to work together to bring these projects to fruition, reaffirming the strength of their diplomatic relations and the potential for building new alliances for the benefit of both nations.
