The Hague, September 11, 2025. Cuban ambassador to the Netherlands, Eva Yelina Silva Walker, met with the Director of International Relations of the Ministry of Health, Welfare, and Sport, Ronald Driece.
During the meeting, they discussed the health systems in both countries and the commonalities, such as the existence of a family doctor system.
Silva Walker highlighted Cuba's progress in training medical personnel, the prevention approach that predominates in the Cuban health system, as well as the cooperation offered to more than 100 nations around the world, including Europe, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She also highlighted the Caribbean island's biotechnological development, mentioning examples of medications such as HEBERPROT P, which is produced only in Cuba and is very useful in preventing amputations in patients with diabetic foot ulcers.
From the other side, Mr. Driece recognized the excellent quality of the Cuban medical system, one of the best in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the contributions it has made to improve the health of the population in numerous countries.
