Cuban ambassador meets with the Director of the Western Hemisphere Department of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Hague, September 5, 2025. At noon this Friday, the head of the Cuban diplomatic mission in the Netherlands, Eva Yelina Silva Walker, held a meeting with Marjam Kamstra, Director of the Western Hemisphere Department of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, they discussed issues on the bilateral and international agenda and reviewed various current affairs in their respective countries.

Silva Walker addressed the media's disinformation and distortion of events in Cuba and explained how this is part of the framework of hostility and aggression by the US government in its attempt to subvert the political order on the island. He detailed how they are attempting to impose the prevailing opinion that the shortcomings suffered by the Cuban people are the government's responsibility, while applying an arsenal of measures ranging from attempts to obstruct any inflow of foreign currency to exerting pressure and threats against those who trade or seek to invest in the Caribbean country. He also reiterated the illegal and extraterritorial nature of the blockade, the cruelest and longest-standing ever applied against any nation, and condemned Cuba's inclusion on the spurious list of states that sponsor terrorism.

Both diplomats welcomed the meeting and reaffirmed their interest in continuing to strengthen ties between the two countries, whose relations date back to 1902.
