Luxembourg, October 12, 2026. During her working visit to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Cuban ambassador to that country, Eva Yelina Silva Walker, held a meeting with members of the board of the NGO Solidarité Luxembourg-Cuba and several of its key collaborators, including artists, professors, economists, and others.
The Cuban diplomat denounced the impact of the U.S. government’s policy of suffocation and acknowledged the NGO’s valuable expressions of solidarity with the Cuban people.
They discussed an article published by Siggy Koening, an active member of the NGO, who has participated in 38 development aid projects in Cuba since 1995. The article addresses the excessive pressure exerted by the U.S. government against the island, as well as the socioeconomic transformations that the Cuban government is implementing in this context of maximum pressure to ensure the nation’s survival.
Solidarité Luxembourg-Cuba is an NGO (nongovernmental organization) that carries out development projects in Cuba. Formally established in 1996, it has operated in close collaboration with the Luxembourg-Cuba Friendship Association (founded in 1984). Its main objective is to promote active solidarity with the Cuban people by providing technical assistance, humanitarian aid, and implementing development projects.
The organization focuses its cooperation projects on sectors that are key to the socioeconomic development and well-being of the Cuban people, such as health and sanitation, education and vocational training, alternative energy, and humanitarian and emergency aid.
