KINGSTON, JAMAICA, January 27th, 2018. Cuban Ambassador to Jamaica, Ines Fors Fernández, welcomed last Thursday, January 25th, the Coordinator of the United Nations Regional Programme, Dr. Lorna Iniss.
Dr. Iniss offered a detailed explanation on the fundamental objectives of her office that directs the protection of the environment in the region of the Caribbean. Dr. Iniss highlighted as well the renowned efforts by Cuba in this area which makes the country a referral to the region and the rest of the world.
Cuban Ambassador expressed that her country considers the environment protection a priority and also mentioned some of the programmes created to this purpose and the diverse accords established with countries sharing the same geography.
The regional coordinator office is placed in this capital and represents the Secretariat for the Programme for the Environment Protection in the Caribbean and the Cartagena Convention and its protocols.
