SYRIA, May 12, 2017 .- The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in the Syrian Arab Republic, Rogerio Santana Rodríguez, met this afternoon with the Secretary General of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), Nayef Hawatmeh, in the offices of this organization in Damascus.
During the meeting, Hawatmeh warned of US interference in the Middle East region. He noted that the next and first international tour of US President Donald Trump has the clear objective of increasing attempts to isolate the Palestinian movement.
Hawatmeh expressed his solidarity and support for the hunger strike held by Palestinian prisoners since 17 April, ignored by the mainstream media and politicians of the West, even though it is backed by their human values in Algeria, Tunisia, Syria and Latin America and the rest of the world.
On the negotiations to achieve peace in Syria, he said he expects a positive result of those actions and that, undoubtedly, are beneficial for this nation and the Palestinians themselves.
Other leaders of the Palestinian organization, other officials of the Cuban Embassy and the correspondent of Prensa Latina in Syria participated in the meeting.
