Cuban Ambassador in Nairobi presented Letters of Credence to UNEP and UN-Habitat

Nairobi, 2nd February, 2022- This morning, the Cuban Ambassador to Kenya, H.E Juan Manuel Rodríguez Vázquez, presented to the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Director-General of the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), Zainab Hawa Bangura, the Letters of Credence accrediting him as Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).

 

 

In this space, both parties agreed on the importance of multilateralism to solve the great challenges facing humanity in relation to climate change and environmental protection. They also addressed issues related to the challenges and main projects in the field of land use and urban planning.

 

The Cuban ambassador expressed his gratitude for the support of both multilateral organizations in the fair struggle of the Cuban people and government to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade that the US has maintained against the island for 60 years.

 

 

The meeting took place in an atmosphere of cordiality and of overt affection and gratitude to the Cuban people for their internationalist commitment.
