Abuja, February 15, 2025 – The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Nigeria, Miriam Morales Palmero, together with officials from the Cuban Embassy, participated in a moving art exhibition dedicated to Nigerian culture and family values, held in the city of Abuja.
The event brought together artists, diplomats, academics, and representatives from cultural institutions, offering a vibrant visual journey through Nigeria’s cultural heritage. The exhibition featured paintings, sculptures, textiles, and photographs that highlighted the nation’s rich identity, spiritual traditions, and the central role of the family in Nigerian society.
During her remarks, Ambassador Morales Palmero praised the extraordinary cultural diversity of Nigeria and its powerful artistic expressions, describing them as “a mirror of the soul of a people deeply proud of their heritage and history.” She also noted that “Nigerian culture—with its wealth of languages, symbols, and ancestral wisdom—finds strong echoes in Cuba, where many of our traditions and popular expressions have African roots, particularly from this region of the continent.”
The participation of the Cuban delegation in the event reaffirmed the historic and cultural bonds that unite Nigeria and Cuba, and the shared commitment to strengthening exchanges in the fields of art, education, and social values. Both countries recognize the transformative power of culture and the family unit in building more just, inclusive, and compassionate societies.
The exhibition served as a valuable opportunity to deepen ties with members of Nigeria’s cultural sector and to celebrate the longstanding connections that link the Cuban and Nigerian peoples in a spirit of mutual respect, cooperation, and solidarity.
