Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria Miriam Morales Palmero met with the Foreign Ministry's Director for Latin America and the Caribbean.

The ambassador held a working meeting with Ambassador Aisha Dewa, Director of the Americas and Caribbean Division at the Nigerian Foreign Ministry. She thanked Ambassador Dewa for Nigeria's support of #Cuba in its struggle to end the economic, financial, and commercial blockade imposed by the United States for over 67 years.

During the meeting, both parties reviewed the bilateral agenda and discussed the complex situation currently facing the Cuban people due to the intensification of the criminal blockade, the energy embargo imposed since January 29, 2026, and the application of secondary sanctions, as well as their impact on Cuban families and sectors vital to the country's survival. Furthermore, the case was made that #CubaIsNotAThreat, whereas the blockade is.

Director Aisha Dewa expressed appreciation for the explanation and lamented the difficult situation unjustly endured by the Cuban people; she conveyed her best wishes for a peaceful resolution and the lifting of the blockade. She reiterated that Nigeria would continue working to develop bilateral relations with the island, both in economic matters and within the multilateral arena.
