Abuja, February 11, 2025 – The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Nigeria, Her Excellency Miriam Morales Palmero, took part in the official celebrations marking the National Independence Day of the Islamic Republic of Iran, held in the city of Abuja.
The event, organized by the Embassy of Iran in Nigeria, brought together members of the diplomatic corps, Nigerian government officials, as well as representatives from civil society and the cultural sector. On this occasion, Ambassador Morales Palmero conveyed warm congratulations on behalf of the Cuban people and government to the Iranian people and authorities.
During the reception, the Cuban diplomat engaged in cordial exchanges with representatives of various nations and reaffirmed Cuba's commitment to the principles of mutual respect, international cooperation, and solidarity among peoples.
Cuba and Iran share a long-standing history of bilateral relations founded on mutual respect for sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, and a common defense of just causes in international forums. Both nations have consistently advocated for multilateralism, peace, and social justice.
Over the years, Cuba and Iran have strengthened their ties through cooperation in areas such as health, education, science, and technology—sectors where meaningful progress has been achieved thanks to the political will and friendship of both governments.
Ambassador Miriam Morales Palmero’s participation in this important celebration once again highlights the strong bonds of friendship between Cuba and other nations around the world, and reaffirms Cuba’s unwavering commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations and building an international order based on respect, equity, and solidarity.
