Oslo, May 24, 2024. On May 22, along with some colleagues from the Diplomatic Corps, the ambassador of Cuba to Norway, Maité Rivero Torres, took part in several events organized on the occasion of the 72nd edition of the Bergen International Festival, which will run until June 3.
The official opening ceremony, which took place in the central square of Torgallmenningen, in Bergen, was chaired by Norway´s Prime Minister, Jonas Gahr Støre, and was attended by the Minister of Culture and Equality, Lubna Jaffery; the city Mayor, Marit Warncke; the Governing Mayor, Christine Meyer; the Chairman of Board of the Festival, Thorhild Widvey Taler, and its director, Lars Petter Hagen.
The Festival began with the premiere of the theater production “Peer Gynt”, by Henrik Ibsen, with music by Edvard Grieg.
All the events gave to the Cuban diplomat and her colleagues the opportunity to interact with outstanding Norwegian personalities from different sectors.
As part of the program of the Festival, the Cuban dance company “Acosta Danza” will present its show "Ecléctico Cubano”on June 1st, in Grieghallen.
