Oslo, December 6, 2025 - The year-end meeting of members of the Communist Party of Norway (NKP) in Oslo served as the venue to welcome Hugo Ramos Milanes, the newly accredited Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Kingdom of Norway.
Paulius Eidukas, Secretary of the Party in Oslo, in his welcoming remarks to the Ambassador, highlighted the existing relations of friendship and collaboration between the Communist Parties of Cuba and Norway, as well as with the Cuban Embassy. He reaffirmed his Party's commitment to continue expanding this fraternal relationship and bilateral cooperation.
For his part, the Cuban Ambassador conveyed a message of greetings and gratitude to the comrades of the Communist Party of Norway on behalf of the Communist Party of Cuba, the Cuban Government, and the Cuban people for the unwavering solidarity shown by the NKP toward the Cuban Revolution over decades.
Ramos Milanes gave a brief characterization of the current situation in Cuba, determined by the severe impact of six years of intensified Yankee economic blockade and the deployment of a multimillion-dollar and toxic media campaign, which, with the profusion of false messages, seeks to undermine the people's confidence in the management of the Communist Party of Cuba and the Government, as well as alienate the international solidarity that the Cuban Revolution has historically aroused.
The Cuban ambassador made it known that the current obstacles, though enormous, will not stop us. The Party, the Government, and the vast majority of the Cuban people remain engaged in a permanent struggle to recover the growth of our economy, the foundation for maintaining the social achievements of the Revolution and the well-being of the Cuban people. We do so with the firmness and confidence in victory instilled in us by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, whose centennial we will celebrate in 2026. We also do so accompanied by unwavering international solidarity, of which the Norwegian communists are a part.
On an occasion such as this, we cannot ignore the grave threat to peace in Latin America and the Caribbean posed by President Donald Trump's arbitrary decision to maintain a disproportionate military presence in the Caribbean. This presence foreshadows the possibility of an imminent military aggression, aimed at destroying the Bolivarian Revolution. Faced with this threat, the Cuban diplomat urged vigilance and a concerted effort to achieve the broadest possible international mobilization to halt this aggression.
He wished the Communist Party of Norway and its members renewed success in 2026.
