JAKARTA, October 2, 2025. The Ambassador of Cuba to ASEAN, Dagmar González Grau, participated in the Briefing Session on the outcomes of the 46th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), in which Cuba takes part as an observer. On this occasion, the Ambassador greeted the Secretary General of AIPA, Siti Rozaimeriyanty Dato Haji Abdul Rahman, an architect by training and parliamentarian from Brunei Darussalam.
It was reported that member parliaments reaffirmed their commitment to placing Parliament at the forefront of inclusive growth and a sustainable ASEAN.
The following resolutions were approved:
• Promotion of intraregional trade and economic digitalization.
• Support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the post-pandemic era.
• Promotion of gender equity and social inclusion.
• Cooperation in public health and education.
• Review of AIPA’s internal statutes.
• Proposals to improve the efficiency of future assemblies.
As part of the 46th AIPA General Assembly, the Meeting of Women Parliamentarians of AIPA (WAIPA) was held, focusing on strengthening the role of women parliamentarians in ASEAN, promoting innovation, inclusion, and diversity in parliaments, and advancing gender equality as a pillar of regional development.
Key topics included:
• Gender-balanced parliaments: Emphasis was placed on achieving 30% female representation in decision-making positions.
• Combatting digital violence: Challenges faced by women in digital spaces, including online harassment, were addressed.
• Economic empowerment: Policies were discussed to enhance women’s access to financial and entrepreneurial resources.
