Cuban Ambassador participates in GRULAC plenary meeting at UNESCO

Paris, 19 of April. Today morning, the Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of Cuba to UNESCO, María del Carmen Herrera Caseiro, participated in the plenary meeting of the Group of Latin American and Caribbean States at UNESCO.

At her first plenary meeting of the Group, the countries of the region warmly welcomed the Cuban representative, highlighting Cuba’s activism at UNESCO in defending and promoting the priorities of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Ambassador Herrera Caseiro expressed Cuba’s full commitment to continue promoting the interests of our region in UNESCO’s areas of competence and to continue strengthening cooperation, unity and regional integration.

She added that on a day like today, when the Cuban people remember the victory at Playa Girón, the first great defeat of US imperialism in Latin America, it is an honor to receive both recognition of Cuba’s role in the region and the achievements of its revolutionary diplomacy. Latin America and the Caribbean can always count on Cuba, she said.

The occasion was also propitious for the Ambassador to present the report of the group of candidatures of GRULAC, which Cuba coordinates.
