Cairo, November 10, 2025. The Cuban ambassador to Egypt, Alexander Pellicer Moraga, participated alongside heads of mission from Latin America and the Caribbean in a meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister welcomed the ambassadors and expressed his deep gratitude for the historic friendship with the peoples and nations of Latin America, while reaffirming Egypt's commitment to building strong relations with various regional partners, highlighting Egypt's pride in its cultural and humanitarian ties with the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
He also discussed with the ambassadors the need to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation, especially economic cooperation. Abdelatty underscored Egypt's priority of improving economic, trade, and investment cooperation with the region and expanding export markets for competitive Egyptian products as part of South-South cooperation.
The minister praised Latin American countries for their support of Arab causes, particularly the Palestinian issue, and thanked the Latin American members of UNESCO's Executive Board for backing Egypt's nomination of Dr. Khaled El-Anany as Director-General of the organization.
Abdelatty called for intensifying high-level visits, activating existing political consultation mechanisms, and exploring new frameworks for economic cooperation and investment that reflect the potential and depth of relations between Egypt and Latin America.
For his part, in his speech, the Cuban Head of Mission thanked Egypt for its support for the Cuban resolution against the blockade voted on at the UNGA on October 29, and reaffirmed Cuba's willingness to continue developing cooperative relations in areas of common interest, including health, biopharmaceuticals, and education.
