Cuban Ambassador pays courtesy call on new Minister of Industries of Sri Lanka

SRI LANKA, October 9, 2020. - The Cuban Ambassador, Juana Elena Ramos Rodríguez, paid a courtesy call on the new Minister of Industries of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and Member of Parliament, Honorable Weemal Weerawansa.

During the meeting, both parties highlighted the historical and excellent relations of friendship and collaboration between the two countries, as well as expressed their interest in strengthening and expanding them.

Minister Weerawansa expressed his rejection of the blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, even in times of COVID - 19. He also recognized the work of Cuban medical collaboration in various countries. he expressed his support for the proposal that the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize be awarded to the Cuban Medical Contingent “Henry Reeve”.

Minister Wimal Werawansa is also the leader of the National Freedom Front party.
