The Cuban Ambassador, Yadirys Echenique Paz, held an official meeting with the President of the Senate of Grenada, the Honorable Dessima Williams. Both highlighted the quality of bilateral ties between the institutions of the two countries.
During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat conveyed the warm greetings of the President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba, Esteban Lazo Hernández. In her remarks, she reaffirmed Havana's interest in maintaining a fluid and constructive dialogue with the Grenadian authorities.
For her part, the President of the Senate emphasized the historical and current value of relations with Cuba. She underscored that cooperation in areas such as health, education, and human resource development has left a positive mark on Grenadian society, and expressed her willingness to continue working on joint initiatives that strengthen the friendship between both peoples. In the exchange, the Grenadian leader recalled episodes from her political life that placed her close to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro. She affirmed that, from her current leadership position, she is prepared to support the Cuban people in overcoming the challenges stemming from the hostility of the U.S. government.
This meeting takes place within the framework of more than four decades of diplomatic ties between Cuba and Grenada, established in 1979 after the triumph of the Grenadian Revolution. Since then, collaboration has included infrastructure projects, medical brigades, and academic training programs, consolidating a relationship of solidarity that remains in effect today.
