The Ambassador of Cuba in Egypt, HE Tania Aguiar Fernández, attended this to the Abdel Nasser mosque January 15 to take part in the activities organized to celebrate the 101st anniversary of the birth of former Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser.
The Cuban Ambassador paid tribute to the Egyptian leader placing a bouquet of flowers in his grave and then held a brief meeting with his son Abdel Hakim Nasser, who was very thankful for her assistance and remembered the close ties that united Nasser with the Historical Leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.
Gamal Abdel Nasser, a career soldier, was president of Egypt between 1954 and 1970. He led the Arab nationalist revolution in Egypt and one of his greatest achievements was the nationalization of the Suez Canal. It is renowned the great international prestige reached by his country under his mandate.
