With the title "Highlights of the Cuban health system, responses to covid 19, advances in medical research and international solidarity medical work", the Cuban ambassador to the Philippines shared with Philippine activists her country's strategy to control the covid epidemic 19 on the island.
The information was transferred in the framework of an online conversation organized by the cultural and friendship association Philipinas-Cuba, as part of the efforts it is making to inform the Philippine population about the pandemic.
The seminar was attended by members of the friendship association, doctors who are part of the commission for the control of the epidemic and medical students, as well as the fellow at ELAM, Jastine Domdom, who is currently in the second year of the race.
Regarding the Cuban strategy, Domdom commented on the level of organization in the entire structure of the health system and about the treatment of the most vulnerable population, concluded by inviting the participants to seek information on health in Cuba, to put into practice those aspects that Cuba applies that at least at the community level they could be put into practice to guarantee the care of the population.
For her part, Ambassador Fernández Hernández highlighted the comprehensiveness of the Cuban government's response that allows the results achieved to be exhibited and the role played by the Cuban scientific community in obtaining preventive drugs and developing protocols that give Cuba autonomy in the midst of the upsurge. of the block.
Dr Ramon Paterno, from the universal health care study group, also spoke at the forum, which explained how the Philippines copes with covid, recognizing the differences with Cuba and the absence of a national strategy that has led to the excessive increase in the cases.
The forum, which included the participation of 73 people, concluded with a condemnation of the United States' blockade of Cuba and the recognition of Cuban specialists who have extended their solidarity hand during the pandemic.
