Cuban Ambassador presented Letters of Credence to the Governor General of Barbados.

The Governor General of Barbados, Sir Elliott Fitzroy Belgrave, received the Credentials of the new Ambassador of Cuba in that country, Francisco Fernández Peña, in a ceremony at the Government Palace, accompanied by the First Secretary, Ana Labaut de Dios. In his presentation, Fernández Peña stressed its commitment to advance the development of bilateral relations and expand the existing cooperation. He also stressed the pride of his country maintaining and defending the culture and identity as a Caribbean nation, very important for the integration of Latin America and the Caribbean, what will be shown once again during the V Summit of Heads of State CARICOM-Cuba and Government, held in Havana on December 8 to come. Meanwhile, in his speech in response, Governor General requested President Raul Castro moved warm greetings and best wishes for the prosperity of the Cuban people. By setting the high significance of strengthening bilateral friendship and cooperation, referred to the traditional bonds of cooperation between Cuba and the CARICOM countries, over 42 years. In that sense, said his country will be represented in the great appointment of Havana by Prime Minister Freundel Stuart and Chancellor Maxine McClean, and expressed confidence that working together will continue obtaining mutual benefits for our countries.
