Islamabad, March 31, 2026. The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Damián Cordero Torres, was received by the Palestinian Ambassador to this capital, His Excellency Dr. Zuhair M. H. Zaid, during a courtesy visit to the sister diplomatic mission. The meeting, held one day after the commemoration of Palestinian Land Day, provided an appropriate setting for the Cuban Ambassador to reflect on that anniversary in honor of the dignity and resistance of the Palestinian people. In a frank exchange of shared sentiments, both diplomats also discussed imperialist attacks and their concern over this senseless escalation. There was no lack of Cuban solidarity with the torn Gaza, nor of Palestinian concern for Cuba, besieged at the whim of a president who believes himself to be an emperor. Both ambassadors agreed on the usefulness and necessity of the visit at a time of commitment to peace in total opposition to war. Fidel, on the day of his tribute, also came to the fore in the conversation, particularly his vision of the problems facing humanity.
