Gaborone – The Cuban Ambassador to Botswana, Antonio Luis Pubillones Izaguirre, visited the Parliament Chambers to sign the Book of Condolences following the death of former President Dr. Festus Mogae.
On behalf of the Government and people of Cuba, the Ambassador conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the Government and people of Botswana, as well as to Dr. Mogae’s family and friends.
Dr. Festus Mogae, who served as Botswana’s third President from 1998 to 2008, paid an official visit to Cuba on March 23, 2002, a milestone that contributed to strengthening bilateral relations and economic cooperation between the two nations.
Diplomatic relations between Cuba and Botswana, established on December 9, 1977, have since been marked by cordial and friendly ties.
