Cuban Ambassador Meets with Botswana’s Foreign Minister

Gaborone, May 21, 2026 – The Cuban Ambassador to Botswana, Antonio Luis Pubillones Izaguirre, held a fruitful meeting this afternoon with Dr. Phenyo Butale, Minister of International Relations of the brotherly African nation.

During the cordial exchange, both parties reviewed the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to continue working together to strengthen these ties, as well as the historic bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two peoples and countries.

Cuban Ambassador Signs Book of Condolences for the Passing of Former President of Botswana Dr. Festus Mogae

Gaborone – The Cuban Ambassador to Botswana, Antonio Luis Pubillones Izaguirre, visited the Parliament Chambers to sign the Book of Condolences following the death of former President Dr. Festus Mogae.

On behalf of the Government and people of Cuba, the Ambassador conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the Government and people of Botswana, as well as to Dr. Mogae’s family and friends.

Cuban Ambassador Participates in the Celebration of the 46th Anniversary of Zimbabwe’s Independence

Gaborone, May 7, 2026 – The Cuban Ambassador to Botswana, Antonio Luis Pubillones Izaguirre, had the honor of participating in the celebration of the 46th anniversary of Zimbabwe’s independence.

The occasion provided the Cuban diplomat with the opportunity to share pleasant moments and hold brief but fruitful exchanges with his Zimbabwean counterpart, Henry Mukonoweshuro; Botswana’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Phenyo Butale; the Executive Secretary of SADC, Elias Magosi; and several colleagues from the Diplomatic Corps accredited in this brotherly country.

Cuban Head of Mission is received at the Liberian Foreign Ministry.

Monrovia, October 15, 2024 - In the afternoon, the Head of Mission Mercedes Martinez Herrera was received at the headquarters of the Liberian Foreign Ministry by the Deputy Minister for Multilateral Affairs Dr. Ibrahim Nyei, who serves as acting Foreign Minister.

During the meeting, they exchanged on various issues of mutual interest and highlighted the cooperation that both chancelleries maintain in the multilateral sphere.

Cuban Embassy in Liberia bids farewell to Liberian students who will study Medicine at ELAM.

Monrovia, August 13, 2024 - The Cuban Embassy in Liberia commemorated the 98th birthday of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz with the celebration of a farewell meeting for the Liberian students who benefited from scholarships to study medicine in Cuba through the Scholarship Plan offered by the Cuban government as part of the cooperation with the African country.

Liberian medical graduates thank Cuba for their education.

Monrovia, August 6, 2024 - The two Liberian medical students who graduated this year in Cuba were awarded Gold Diplomas for their academic performance and integrity.

Both students thanked Cuba for their achievements and training.

The Liberian authorities conveyed their gratitude since thanks to the Cuba-Liberia Scholarship Plan the African country has benefited from graduates, engineers, doctors and health technicians; fruits of the bilateral relations between the two countries.

April 17, 2024 - In the framework of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Cuba-Liberia diplomatic relations, Cuban Head of Mission Mercedes L. Martínez Herrera had a fraternal and fruitful exchange with Karishma Pelham-Raad, Assistant Minister for International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Liberia.

Monrovia, October 30, 2023 - In the morning, the Head of Mission Mercedes Martinez Herrera was received at the headquarters of the Liberian Foreign Ministry by First Deputy Foreign Minister Henry Fahnbulleh.

In a fraternal atmosphere, both parties confirmed the good state of diplomatic ties and both diplomats discussed issues of bilateral and multilateral interest for both nations.
