Cuban Embassy in Liberia bids farewell to Liberian students who will study Medicine at ELAM.

Monrovia, August 13, 2024 - The Cuban Embassy in Liberia commemorated the 98th birthday of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz with the celebration of a farewell meeting for the Liberian students who benefited from scholarships to study medicine in Cuba through the Scholarship Plan offered by the Cuban government as part of the cooperation with the African country.

The intention of the event was to pay tribute to the person who conceived a new way of seeing medicine and turned a profession, which, like others, was a way to ensure the welfare of those who could pay for their studies and then make a living from it, into a profession of service, dedication and solidarity.

This program is one of the solidarity initiatives with the greatest international impact carried out by the Cuban Revolution, inspired by the humanist vision of the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz.

The Cuban Head of Mission Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera warmly congratulated them and wished them success in this new goal of their lives, with discipline, rigor and deep dedication to study, so that in the future it will revert in favor of the brotherly Liberian people.

For his part, Liberian graduate Kesselee King Kanneh, who is the President of the Liberia-Cuba Solidarity Group, shared with the young people and their families the experiences lived in Cuba during their time as students, emphasizing the high level of preparation they will receive in Cuban universities.

The parents of the beneficiary students were grateful for the opportunity Cuba gave their children to receive the enormous privilege of training as doctors in one of the most prestigious medical schools in the world, which also benefits all the Liberian people.
