Cuba and Liberia Commemorate 52nd Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations

To commemorate the 52nd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Liberia, approximately one hundred people gathered at the Paynesville Cultural Center. A cultural exchange took place there, where community members, students, authorities, representatives of the diplomatic corps, and the Cuba-Liberia Friendship Association enjoyed dances, tourism and music videos, as well as Cuban food. Cuba lives under the constant siege of the United States government, whose threats have escalated in recent months. Adding to the ruthless energy siege—which has worsened the genocidal blockade policy over the past six decades—are statements by representatives of the U.S. governmental elite threatening military aggression.

Liberian Legislature Interacts with Diplomatic Corps

The diplomatic corps present in Monrovia visited the Liberian Legislative Assembly, holding discussions with the heads of the parliamentary committees and the Speaker, the Honorable Richard Kung.

The diplomats were briefed on the main bills under debate, the Assembly's recent agreements regarding the nation's economic development, and the priorities identified by the members of Congress for relations with other nations.

Liberian Minister of Internal Affairs Receives Cuban Ambassador

The Honorable Francis Sakila Nyumalin, Minister of Internal Affairs of Liberia, received the Cuban Ambassador, Dr. Indira López Arguelles.

The Cuban Ambassador conveyed the Cuban government's gratitude to the Liberian people and government for their support of Cuba in its struggle against the U.S. blockade. She explained to the Minister the administrative divisions of the Caribbean island and their connection to the functioning of the Cuban Parliament.
