The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs learned today, September 18, through media reports, of the surprising statement made by Costa Rican Foreign Minister Manuel Tovar Rivera to the Miami Herald, that “diplomatic relations have been severed” with Cuba—a decision that has never been formally notified to the Cuban government by the authorities of that country.
H.E. Dr. Indira Lopez Arguelles, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Liberia, held a cordial and constructive meeting with Mr. Preston S.B., representative of the Democratic Development Forum, as part of the Embassy’s ongoing engagement with Liberian institutions and civil society organizations.
The Ambassador of Cuba to Liberia, H.E. Dr. Indira López Argüelles, held an exchange with Ms. Rachel T. Saykiamien, Head of Press of the Women NGOs Secretariat of Liberia (WONGOSOL).
During the meeting, the Ambassador provided an update on the situation in Cuba, the effects of the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade, the country’s energy situation, and Cuba’s concerns regarding current international tensions. She also presented the report on the blockade.

A major event demonstrating solidarity with Cuba was held at the headquarters of the Liberian National Students' Union (LINSU), the umbrella organization representing Liberian students.
