On October 23, during a press conference held in the capital, the Cuban Ambassador to Monrovia, Dr. Indira López Arguelles, denounced the "silent genocide" being carried out by the U.S. administration against the Cuban people.
The Embassy also condemned Washington’s campaign of intimidation against the island at the United Nations—a campaign involving actions that violate UN protocols, the presence of terrorists, and threats directed at the diplomatic corps and various governments. These efforts are aimed at undermining the overwhelming support the island has received for decades in the UN General Assembly regarding its condemnation of the blockade.
The devastating impact of the blockade on the country’s healthcare, education, economy, and overall life was also presented to local press, as well as to radio, television, and digital media outlets.
Furthermore, journalists inquired about the origins of the blockade policy, its extraterritorial effects, the actions that demonstrate its current intensification, and how the Cuban people are responding to this overt and escalating hostility.
