Cuban Ambassador attends commemoration of the International Day of the African Child.

On June 16, for commemorating the horrendous crimes of apartheid in South Africa, the Organization of African Unity agreed to pay tribute to African children.

In Monrovia, government authorities, schools, rural communities, UNICEF, and other United Nations agencies organized a day of music, dance, and reflection on the work accomplished and the challenges and goals yet to be achieved in Liberia.

Cuban Ambassador Attends Exchange with Liberian Police Inspector General.

The Inspector General of Police in Liberia, Honorable Gregory O. W. Coleman, held an exchange with the diplomatic corps accredited in Monrovia, which was also attended by Cuban Ambassador Dr. Indira López Argüelles.

The Honorable Mr. Coleman outlined the main activities carried out by law enforcement in the country, the most common crimes, and the sustained progress in controlling violence. He also answered questions about the exercise of justice in the country.

Cuban Ambassador receives Liberian activist against child exploitation.

In the framework of International Children's Day, Samuel Asan Chenekan, Liberian leader of the NGO Children Against Labor, visited the Cuban Embassy in Monrovia to present the work carried out by numerous Liberian activists against the various forms of child exploitation.

Ambassador Dr. Indira López Argüelles, while thanking Liberian civil society for its trust in Cuba's work in defense and protection of children and youth, explained the difficulties Cuban children face on the island as a result of the harsh, criminal, and unjust U.S. blockade.
