Cuban Ambassador to Singapore participated in the World Digital Economy Summit 2025

Singapore, May 29, 2025. Ambassador to Singapore. H.E Lisbet Quesada Luna, speaking at the opening of the major event, referred to the priority our country places on digital transformation aimed at modernizing public infrastructure, expanding internet access, and fostering a technology-driven society. This is part of the National Economic and Social Development Plan to 2030, which includes digital transformation as a cross-cutting priority.
 
The diplomat added that our country supports initiatives that promote the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), with the goal of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as preventing these technologies from reproducing stereotypes or manifestations of racism.
She also reaffirmed Cuba's position against the use of unilateral coercive measures that limit access to key technologies, which affect the economic, scientific, and social progress of many nations. With the support of UNESCO, Cuba is finalizing the implementation of the Readiness Assessment Methodology (RAM), which evaluates the country's readiness for ethical and responsible AI, she updated those present.
 
Held on May 28, 2025, at the National University of Singapore and co-sponsored by the Asian Academy for Digital Economy (AADE) and the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF), WDES 2025 brought together more than 300 leaders from international organizations, governments, leading technology companies, academic institutions, and the diplomatic community. The summit was also an official sponsored event of Asia Tech x Singapore (ATxSG), Asia's flagship technology festival. This year's summit, themed "Finance, Technology, and Governance: A Trilogy for a Sustainable Future," served as a powerful platform for collective reflection and forward-thinking action.
 
Through high-level keynotes, expert dialogues, and closed-door panel discussions, participants explored how emerging technologies, such as AI, IoT, and big data, can be effectively leveraged to drive large-scale sustainable innovation. In particular, the summit highlighted Singapore's role as a strategic link between East and West, a position that enables the country to drive advancements in financial technology, foster inclusive growth, and lead by example in creating a sustainable, innovation-driven digital future.
