Cuban Ambassador speaks at commemoration of the anniversary of the Grenadian Revolution

The Cuban Embassy in Grenada held a commemorative event for the 47th anniversary of the triumph of the Grenadian Revolution and the centenary of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz. In her welcoming remarks, Ambassador Yadirys Echenique Paz highlighted the historical significance of the relationship between Cuba and Grenada, marked by the brotherhood and solidarity that have united both Caribbean peoples.

The diplomat emphasized that, despite being a small and developing country, Cuba has offered significant support to Grenada, contributing to infrastructure projects, such as the new airport, as well as sending doctors, teachers, and technicians. This effort, modest in quantity but high in quality, she stated, has become a symbol of regional fraternity and a legacy that continues to inspire new generations.

Echenique Paz recalled that the friendship between Cuba and Grenada, as well as between Fidel Castro and Maurice Bishop, remained steadfast in the face of hostile propaganda from the United States government, and that solidarity between small nations can be more powerful than any economic calculation. In this regard, she emphasized that the true strength of a people is not measured in population figures or territorial size, but in the capacity to share, resist, and build together a more just future.

Finally, the ambassador denounced the intensification of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, including recent measures aimed at obstructing the entry of fuel into the country. Despite these difficulties, she affirmed that the Cuban Revolution will continue.
