Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka participated in activity for the 76th anniversary of the Nakba

Colombo, May 16, 2024. Ambassador of Cuba in Sri Lanka , Andrés  Marcelo González Garrido participated in Commemoration activity in Colombo, organized by the Embassy of Palestine, on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the Nakba, Day of the Catastrophe, mass expulsion in 1948, before and during the war that gave rise to the creation of the State of Israel, on a day marked by the offensive in Gaza and the forced displacement of 1.7 million Gazans.
During the commemoration activity and the Palestinian Film Festival in Colombo, the book The Children of the Little Olive Park, written by Sri Lankan writer Ruwanthe de Chikera and illustrated by Ryan Holsinge, was presented.
The film Farha was also presented, which is a historical drama film written and directed by Jordanian film director Darin J. Sallam that addresses the coming of age of a Palestinian girl during the Nakba, the mass expulsion or flight of Palestinians before the advance of Israeli troops in 1948.
