Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka presents credentials
Sri Lanka, July 22, 2021, The Ambassador of Cuba, Andrés Marcelo González Garrido, presented his credentials to the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, H.E. Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
In the solemn ceremony held at the Presiden’s House, the Cuban Ambassador conveyed the greetings of Cuban President Miguel Diaz Canel Bermúdez and thanked Sri Lanka for its sustained support to the Cuban resolution against the United States' blockade at the United Nations.
On his part, the President highlighted the existing relations between both countries and expressed his gratitude to Cuba for the constant support provided to Sri Lanka in various international forums.
Present at the ceremony were the Honorable Dinesh Gunawardena, Minister of Foreign Relations of Sri Lanka and Dr. P. B. Jayasundara, Secretary of the President.
Diplomatic relations between Cuba and Sri Lanka were established in 1959 and have been maintained uninterruptedly.
