Khon Kaen, October 10 and 11, 2019.- The Cuban ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand, Héctor Conde Almeida, gave lectures at the Faculties of Humanities and Medicine of “Khon Kaen University” of the Kingdom of Thailand. The presentations were attended by students of the Spanish and Political Sciences Sections and the Primary Health Care Attention Department of the respective Faculties, the Deans, authorities and professors of the renowned higher-education center.
The presentations served as interactive framework to deepen knowledge on the history and legacy of the Cuban Revolution on its 60th anniversary, the 151st Anniversary of October 10, 1868, - founding event of the National Liberation Revolution of Cuba; Cuba's universal health-care system, the positive impact of Cuba's extensive international medical cooperation in the World and the negative effects of the illegal economic, commercial and financial blockade that for 60 years has maintained the government of the United States against the largest of the Antilles.
The colloquium paid tribute to the legacy of Cuban historic figures like Fidel Castro Ruz, Ernesto Che Guevara, Carlos Manuel de Céspedes and Camilo Cienfuegos. The young students shared their questions and concerns, in a pleasant exchange that allowed them to expand their knowledge about Cuba; the ongoing bilateral cooperation; as well as the 500th Anniversary of Havana to be celebrated on November 16th, 2019.
The Cuban diplomat took the opportunity to invite a distinguished delegation from the University to attend the 12th International Congress "Universidad 2020" on the subject: "The University and the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda", to be held in Havana, from February 10th to 14th, 2020.
