Cuban Ambassador thanks the solidarity shown by the Trade Union Congress Ghana

The Ambassador of Cuba Pedro Luis Despaigne González attended the inauguration ceremony of the restored headquarters of the Trade Union Congress Ghana (TUC). The event was chaired by the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, joined by the General Secretary of TUC, Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah and the Ministers for Finance and Employment and Labor Relations.

During the activity, the Cuban Ambassador exchanged greetings with the Ghanaian President, as well as spoke with the TUC's leadership and with leaders of the affiliated organizations about how the links between the union organization and the Cuban Embassy have been strengthened.

The Cuban diplomat thanked the TUC for its solidarity with Cuba. He positively valued the presence between 2017 and 2019, of 33 Ghanaian trade unionists, as members of the Voluntary Work Brigades, who, in greeting to May 1, organized the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), which has allowed its participants receive first-hand information about the Cuban reality, and especially exchange with their people. He also made reference to the symbolism for Cuba of the place today rebuilt, which was visited in January 1965, by Commander Ernesto Che Guevara.

The Cuban embassy was the only accredited Diplomatic Mission in Ghana invited to the event. The First Secretary of the embassy, ​​Julio César Sánchez Martínez also was in attendance. (EmbaCuba Ghana)
