Cuban Ambassador to UNESCO receives Algerian Ambassador on a courtesy visit

Paris, September 11, 2026.- The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Cuba to UNESCO, María del Carmen Herrera Caseiro, received H.E. Mr. Abdelghani Merabet, the new Ambassador of Algeria to the Organization, on a courtesy visit.
During the cordial meeting, both sides exchanged views on the strong bonds of friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the peoples of Cuba and Algeria, as well as on opportunities to further strengthen collaboration in different multilateral fora, including UNESCO.
Ambassador Merabet presented his Letters of Credence at the end of August this year.
The Cuban Ambassador conveyed the serious situation facing Cuba, marked by the tightening of the economic, commercial and financial blockade, as well as the energy siege and the implications of the executive orders adopted by the President of the United States during the current year.
Both Ambassadors reaffirmed their willingness to continue working in a coordinated manner and to strengthen cooperation between their respective Delegations in areas of common interest.
