Saint Mary, Jamaica, 14 November 2019. The Cuban Ambassador to Jamaica, H.E. Mrs. Inés Fors Fernández, visited several sites of historical interest as part of her trip to the parish of Saint Mary.

The tour included a visit to the monument erected to “Tacky”, a slave leader who led one of the most significant rebellions against Colonialism in the Caribbean region in the 18th century. The Cuban diplomat paid solemn tribute to the African-Jamaican hero and laid a wreath on his monument.

Then she visited Fort Haldene, built in 1759 by the Brittish colonial system to protect the harbour of Port María and other strategic places of the city from Spanish raids. Finally, she toured the facilities of the 'Civic Center', also known as the Old Courthouse, where the parish City Hall is currently based.

Mr. Richard Creary, the parsih's mayor, as well as other local government officials joined the Ambassador in her tour.
