Harare, July 13, 2026 – The Ambassador of Cuba, Her Excellency Susellys Pérez Mesa, met today with Zimbabwean students who have received scholarships to pursue university studies on the Caribbean island.
The Ambassador briefed Isaac Gumbese and McDonald Matanhire on the historic bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as Cuba's collaboration in health and education, which has resulted in the graduation of some three thousand professionals for this African nation.
In the presence of an official from the Office of the President of Zimbabwe, the Ambassador provided an update on the complex situation on the island in light of the intensification of the criminal US blockade.
She also acknowledged Harare's long-standing support against the unilateral coercive measures illegally imposed by Washington, which cause so much harm to sovereign nations.
Despite the difficulties caused by this situation, Pérez Mesa reaffirmed to the young people the Cuban Revolution's unwavering and solidarity-based commitment to the training of professionals from sister nations like Zimbabwe.
The students, who will be studying medicine and mining engineering, also signed the Code of Ethics and discussed other matters of interest related to history, customs, and bilateral relations.
Also present at the meeting at the Embassy of the Caribbean nation were Minister Counselor Luis Enrique González Acosta and Second Secretary Zailín Gaulhiac Moraguez.
