Kingston, Jamaica, 30 November 2020. Last Friday, a forum was held via videoconference between healthcare companies from Cuba and Jamaica. The meeting, organized by the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba and the Embassy of Cuba in Jamaica, was chaired by Celia Labora, Director of International Relations at the Chamber, and by Ambassador Inés Fors.
On the Jamaican side, the meeting was attended by a dozen representatives from companies dedicated to commercializing medical equipment; hospital and medical school directors, managers from agencies that promote health tourism and other medical services in Cuba, as well as renowned doctors who could advocate for the introduction of Cuban pharmaceutical products in the market.
The Cuban side was represented by BioCubaFarma, the Neuroscience Centre, the Immunoassay Centre, the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Centre, Combiomed, MediCuba, AICA Laboratories, LABIOFAM and the Comercializadora de Servicios Médicos Cubanos, S.A. The Heads of the Cuban medical brigades in Jamaica and the Turks and Caicos Islands also participated.
Cuba and Jamaica share a history of cooperation in the health sector, which has grown stronger amidst the struggle against the COVID-19 pandemic. In this context, last Friday's forum enabled the creation of professional links between Cuban and Jamaican healthcare companies; publicize the exportable offer of Cuban medical products and services; and explore investment and partnership possibilities among companies from both countries.
